Budget Accomodation in Cairns

As Queensland’s northernmost big city, situated between the rainforests of tropical Australia and the Great Barrier Reef, Cairns is a veritable tourism hub. Most of the tourists who want to explore the natural beauties of Queensland will have to make their way through Cairns sooner of later.

Even though Cairns itself is a fabulous destination with plenty of attractions, it is often the case that people spend here no more than a night. And whether you are a backpacker, a student during a gap year, or family man/woman heading for a remote beach resort, you will need a comfortable and inexpensive room where to spend the night. This is where out budget accommodation in Cairns guide will prove to be quite useful:

Cairns hostels

There are quite a few hostels and backpacker hotels in Cairns. What’s great about Cairns is that even the least expensive hotels can sometimes have a stunning seaside setting. Also, the prices for a hostel bed start somewhere around 15 Australian dollars – price-wise, considering that you are traveling in such a wonderful region, it couldn’t possibly be better. A list of Cairns’ most popular hostels would include Reef Backpackers Hostel, The Union Jack Hotel or Cairns Beach House. Cairns is also home to numerous backpack resorts – unlike the usual city hostel, these offer additional facilities such as sports centers, pools or private beaches. Example include Gilligan’s Backpackers Hotel & Resort, Nomads Cairns, Gilligan’s Backpackers Hotel and Resort Cairns or Northern Greenhouse – to name just a few. There are also a number of caravan parks and campsites,  which also offer bungalows.

Cains Hotels and B&Bs

There are also a lot of affordable hotels and inns to choose from in and around Cairns. If you crave privacy but are not willing to spend a fortune, an easy solution would be to rent a private room or suite in one of Cairns’ numerous hostels (some of which I have mentioned above). You can also hope for a last-minute deal in one of the international hotels such as Sheridan Cairns, Best Western Cairns or Park Regent Cairns. But why not encourage local tourism a bit? Inexpensive hotels can be found everywhere in Cairns – these are just a few names: Cannon Park Motel, Acacia Court Hotel (Comfort Hotel), Cairns Plaza Hotel.

Cairns Apartments

Another good alternative, especially for a longer stay or for those traveling in a group, is to rent an apartment. Some of these rental apartments will have central locations, such as Best Western Plus Cairns Central Apartments or Best Western Central Plaza Apartments. If you prefer some place closer to the beach or suburban leaving, Cairns Reef Apartments & Motel or Reef Gateway Apartments could do.
